Pathly cover letter with critique from the recruiter simulation next to the text

Why a Pathly cover letter is built differently

A blank AI chat knows neither the job, nor the company, nor you. Pathly brings these three things together before the first sentence is written.

  • It knows the job

The posting becomes a profile with tasks, requirements and key terms. Your letter responds to what the role actually asks for.

  • It knows the company

Pathly researches the company and suggests hooks: a project, a use case, a recent development. You choose what fits you.

  • It knows you

Your CV stations provide the evidence. From your earlier cover letters Pathly learns sentence length and common connecting words.

  • You stay in control

Nothing is sent automatically. You see the draft, edit single paragraphs and approve it yourself.

Your cover letter in four steps

  1. Save the job

Add the posting by link or text, or save it with the Chrome extension. Pathly turns it into a profile with tasks, requirements and ATS keywords.

  2. Choose a hook

From the company research you pick a reference that fits you. A quote is optional. You can also write without one.

  3. Set stations and tone

Which stations from your CV speak for this role? Informal or formal, German or English: you decide.

  4. Review and sharpen

Read the draft, edit single paragraphs and get critique from the recruiter simulation. Then take the text into your application.

How AI cover letters get spotted – and what Pathly does about it

Recruiters read many cover letters every day. Texts stand out when they could fit anywhere: the same opening, the same phrases, no sign of the actual company.

Pathly works against this in three places. It offers real company references as an opening instead of starting with “I hereby apply”. Every claim is meant to rest on a station from your CV. And a recruiter simulation critiques the draft and shows where evidence is missing.

What a strong cover letter looks like – whoever writes it

These points apply to hand-written letters as much as to AI drafts. Use them as a checklist before you send anything.

  • The first two sentences name something concrete about the job or the company.
  • Every strength has evidence: a project, a result, a number.
  • The tone sounds like you, just tidier. Not like a brochure.
  • No empty phrases like “team player and resilient” without an example.
  • The ending opens a conversation instead of repeating “I look forward to your reply”.
  • It fits on one page: roughly 200 to 350 words.

Your documents stay your documents

Your data is stored on EU servers in Frankfurt. Before text goes to the AI, Pathly masks personal details such as names and contact data.

Our AI providers process your text under contract without storing it and without training on it. You can export or delete your data at any time.

Frequently asked questions about the cover letter generator

Is the cover letter generator free?

You can start Pathly for free. The free plan includes four applications per month.

Will the letter really sound like me?

You can upload earlier cover letters. Pathly learns sentence length and common connecting words from them; you choose the tone via informal or formal. Always read the text yourself and adjust it. That is intentional.

Which languages can Pathly write in?

You can generate cover letters in German or English. For German letters you choose between Du and Sie, and between informal and formal.

Do I need a CV for this?

Yes. You upload your CV as a PDF so that Pathly knows your stations and evidence. Without a CV you would only get a generic text.

Is my CV used for AI training?

No. Your documents are not used to train AI models, neither by Pathly nor by the AI providers we use. This is set out in our contracts.

How long does a cover letter take?

Usually a few minutes: choose a hook, confirm stations, review the draft. Plan some time for your own fine-tuning.
